The Marketing Alumni Association of the University of Dhaka and Meghna Group of Industries (MGI) have jointly awarded scholarships to 90 talented and promising students, supporting their higher education and helping develop future leaders.

The scholarship programme was held today (23 September) at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of the University of Dhaka under the theme “A Decade of a Shared Journey”, according to the press release.

Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan, MP, attended the event as the chief guest. In contrast, University of Dhaka Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam attended as the chief patron of the Marketing Alumni Association.

Speaking at the programme, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan said, “It is our shared responsibility to ensure that financial limitations do not prevent talented and promising students from pursuing higher education.”

“The MGI-Marketing Alumni Association Scholarship Programme is a commendable initiative that supports talented and disadvantaged students in continuing their higher education while demonstrating the value of corporate and alumni partnerships in education and human resource development,” he said.

“I hope initiatives like this will encourage students to develop their talents and reach their full potential,” he added.

University of Dhaka Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam said, “Initiatives that support students in this way not only contribute to their academic progress but also help build their confidence and leadership skills.”

“The MGI-MAA Scholarship Programme is a good example of meaningful engagement between the university, its alumni and the corporate sector. I hope the students will use their abilities and contribute more meaningfully to the development of the country and society in the future,” he added.

MGI Director Barrister Tasnim Mostafa attended the event as the guest of honour.

Tasnim said, “Investing in education is not only about supporting a student’s present. It is an investment in the future of families, society and the country.”

“Through the MGI-MAA Scholarship Programme, we want to provide students not only with financial support but also with the confidence to pursue their dreams. As part of its corporate social responsibility, MGI will continue to support similar initiatives for education and youth empowerment in the coming days,” she added.

The event was attended by University of Dhaka Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr Abdus Salam; Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane; Department of Marketing Chairman Professor Dr Serajul Hoque; Marketing Alumni Association President Professor Dr Mohammad Ashraful Islam Chowdhury; General Secretary Khandaker Md Rafik Hasan; and Vice-President Professor Dr Morshed Hasan Khan.

A special session titled “Beyond Scholarship: Shaping Future Leaders” was also organised to inspire students and young people to prepare for future leadership.

MGI Chief Marketing Officer Kazi Md Mohiuddin conducted the session.

For years, MGI has worked to expand access to education by establishing universities, colleges, schools, madrasas, and polytechnic institutes.

The group also supports students through tuition assistance, scholarships, transportation, institutional support, and accommodation assistance.
