National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah paid a courtesy call on President and National University Chancellor Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at Bangabhaban today (20 September).

The meeting was held at Bangabhaban, where a National University delegation led by the vice-chancellor met the president, according to the press release.

The delegation also included Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Treasurer Professor Dr Md Nazmul Hossain, School of Undergraduate Education Dean (Acting) Professor Dr Md Asheq Kabir Chowdhury, Registrar Molla Mahfuz Al-Hossain, Regional Centre Coordination Office Director Md Aminul Akter and Internal Audit Office Director Md Jasim Uddin.

During the meeting, Professor Dr ASM Amanullah presented an overview of the university’s education, research and academic activities to the president.

The vice-chancellor also briefed him on initiatives taken over the past two years since assuming office to bring changes to the university’s academic and administrative activities.

The president was informed about National University’s initiatives to establish district-based performing arts colleges and a college for students with disabilities, publish examination results within the shortest possible time, place greater emphasis on English and ICT education, expand nationwide teacher training programmes, and promote technical and vocational education.

The vice-chancellor also highlighted initiatives to work jointly with various domestic and international institutions and organisations.

He further briefed the president on measures taken by National University to improve the quality of education at colleges in marginal areas of the country.

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir appreciated the initiatives and expressed hope that, as Chancellor, he would provide all necessary support to advance the university’s education reforms and development activities.

During the meeting, the president was also briefed on National University’s activities to implement various government decisions and initiatives.

The vice-chancellor also highlighted measures already taken to reform curricula and syllabuses to make the education system more modern, employment-oriented and responsive to contemporary needs.
