AIUB SONY

Memorandum of Understanding to support the university’s photography club through camera equipment, mentorship and workshops.

The agreement was signed at the American International University-Bangladesh campus on Tuesday (23 June).

Nadia Anwar, Founder Member and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of American International University-Bangladesh, and Joshua Quek, Branch Head of Sony International (Singapore) Ltd, Bangladesh Branch, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of their respective organisations.

Professor Dr Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor of American International University-Bangladesh; Professor Dr Manzur H Khan, Proctor; and Dr Ziarat H Khan, Deputy Director, Student Services and Welfare, attended the signing ceremony.

Other university officials, faculty members and mentors of the American International University-Bangladesh Photography Club were also present.

Representatives from Sony Singapore, including Karan Sum, Regional Head of Digital Imaging, and Jonathan Poon, Digital Imaging Product Specialist, also attended the event.

Under the agreement, Sony Bangladesh provided complimentary Sony camera equipment to the American International University-Bangladesh Photography Club, which operates under the supervision of the university’s Office of Student Affairs.

Sony will also provide mentorship opportunities and conduct workshops for club members to help them improve their technical knowledge and practical photography skills.

As part of the collaboration, the club will be recognised as “AIUB Photography Club – Powered by Sony”.

The partnership is expected to strengthen the club’s activities and events while creating learning opportunities for aspiring photographers through industry engagement, professional guidance and access to advanced imaging technology.
