Fairuz Ishraque has made history as the first Bangladeshi scientist deployed under the US Antarctic Programme.
He has safely arrived at McMurdo Station in Antarctica and is about to go on a pioneering journey to the Allan Hills, where he will drill old ice cores to learn about Earth’s climate history.“
It’s an honour and privilege to represent Bangladesh in this prestigious programme,” Ishraque expressed his excitement in a Facebook post.
This research programme is likely to shed light on past atmospheric conditions, contributing significantly to global climate studies.
