Shehreen Amin Bhuiyan Monami, Assistant Professor of the Department of Public Administration at University of Dhaka, has resigned from her position as Assistant Proctor of the university.

She announced her resignation on Monday (11 May) through a post on social media Facebook.

In her post, she wrote that she had officially stepped down from the role of Assistant Proctor at the University of Dhaka. She added that in her seven years of teaching, she had never intended to take on any administrative responsibility, either at Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), Jagannath University, or the University of Dhaka.

She explained that she was surprised but excited when, on 28 August 2024, the then Proctor, Saifuddin Ahmed, called her and requested her to join as an Assistant Proctor. She described it as a significant responsibility, usually assigned to senior faculty members, and said she felt honoured to be entrusted with it despite being a relatively junior lecturer.
