The government has proposed expanding free education for girls up to the undergraduate level.

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury made the proposal while placing the national budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year in parliament today (11 June).

Khosru also said that a mid-day meal programme will be introduced to ensure students’ nutritional needs and good health, and will be gradually expanded nationwide.
