HOPE worldwide Bangladesh has opened its second School of HOPE in Savar, expanding free primary education and community support for children from underserved families.

The school, inaugurated on 16 August with support from VFS Global, follows the opening of the organisation’s first school in Ashulia in November 2025, according to a press release.

Together, the two schools now provide free primary education to more than 300 children, many from garment-worker families.

Students receive school supplies, nutritious midday meals, regular medical services through health camps, computer education and digital learning resources.

The Primary Education Programme also provides free vocational training to 240 women and young people from the surrounding communities every year, equipping them with practical skills to pursue sustainable livelihoods.

HOPE worldwide Bangladesh Country Manager Martin Animesh Byapari said, “Education is a priority for HOPE worldwide Bangladesh. This partnership will help us deliver quality education to children for their holistic development.

“Additionally, the families of the students, as well as the communities in which they live, will also benefit from this relationship.”

With continued support from VFS Global, the organisation will establish an additional information technology laboratory and expand extracurricular activities such as Cub Scouts, karate, art, dance and music.

The additions are expected to strengthen the schools’ operational capacity and enrich students’ overall learning experience.

VFS Global Chief Operating Officer – South Asia Yummi Talwar said, “At VFS Global, we believe education is one of the most powerful catalysts for long-term social change.

“This programme reflects our global commitment to empowering children and youth through education, skills development and entrepreneurial training.

“We are proud to partner with HOPE worldwide Bangladesh to expand access to quality education and equip individuals with the skills and confidence to build brighter futures.

“I am also encouraged by the commitment of our employees in Dhaka, who have actively supported this initiative and will continue to do so as it expands to a second school.”

Savar Upazila Primary Education Officer Mohammad Alamgir Hossain attended the inauguration alongside programme beneficiaries and representatives from VFS Global and HOPE worldwide Bangladesh.

“This is an extraordinary piece of work that few organisations are doing. Your approach to supporting primary education is unique and impactful. I truly appreciate your dedication and tireless efforts,” he said.

HOPE worldwide Bangladesh and VFS Global said they remained committed to creating lasting opportunities for disadvantaged children and empowering communities through education.
