Master of Education (MEd) in Educational Leadership and School Improvement at BRAC University
BRAC University has formalised the details of its Master of Education (MEd) in Educational Leadership and School Improvement, a professional development initiative aimed at bolstering the strategic and pedagogical capacities of educators.
The curriculum is designed to address a broad spectrum of professional competencies, ranging from academic research and advanced communication to school management and critical problem-solving. Offered through a modular system, the programme provides two distinct pathways for candidates: a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) consisting of 27 credits over 18 months, and a full Master of Education (MEd), which spans 24 months and includes a 36-credit requirement inclusive of a 9-credit dissertation.
In a move reflecting modern academic trends, the university confirmed that the course will utilise a blended learning modality. Students will conduct 70% of their coursework via online platforms, while the remaining 30% will require in-person attendance at the university’s main campus.
Admission Criteria and Eligibility
The university has established rigorous academic benchmarks for prospective students. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree representing at least 15 years of formal education, with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 or a second-class standing from a recognised institution.
Secondary education requirements are equally specific:
- National Curriculum: A minimum GPA of 2.5 or second-division standing in both SSC and HSC examinations.
- International Curriculum: For O-Level and A-Level candidates, a minimum GPA of 2.5 is required across both tiers. Only one ‘E’ grade is permissible throughout the A-Level results.
University officials clarified that Foundation and GED programmes will not be recognised for admission purposes. Furthermore, the selection process will pivot on a mandatory interview for all candidates meeting the preliminary academic thresholds.
