Bangladesh finished seventh in the Asian Games men’s hockey competition after defeating Thailand 3-0 in the seventh-place play-off at Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium in Japan today.

Bangladesh took an early lead in the third minute when Roman Sarker found the net, giving Peter Gerhard’s side a 1-0 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

Amirul Islam doubled the lead in the 27th minute, converting a penalty corner as Bangladesh continued to control the match.

Ashraful Islam completed the scoring in the 53rd minute, converting a penalty stroke to make it 3-0.

Thailand failed to mount a comeback as Bangladesh comfortably held on to secure seventh place and end their Asian Games campaign on a winning note.
