Real Madrid hands Uefa ‘extensive evidence’ in Barcelona-Negreira case
Uefa has received a dossier from Real Madrid containing documents related to its ongoing investigation into Barcelona and the Negreira case.
The case centres on more than €7 million in payments made by Barcelona to companies linked to José María Enríquez Negreira, a former vice-president of Spain’s Technical Committee of Referees. Barcelona have said the payments were for technical refereeing reports.
“Uefa can confirm that it has received from Real Madrid CF a substantial amount of documents,” Uefa said on Thursday, adding that its ethics and disciplinary inspectors would assess them as part of the ongoing review, reported by ESPN.
Real Madrid said the documents contained evidence concerning the “integrity of the competition” and called for the investigation to proceed urgently.
Barcelona stressed that the latest development does not represent a new or reopened case, saying the Uefa investigation has been ongoing since 2023.
The Spanish criminal case into the payments is also still ongoing
