Real Madrid’s hopes were raised but ultimately crushed at Bayern Munich’s home ground. In a match that looked set to go into extra time, Eduardo Camavinga’s red card proved decisive, and two late goals ended Real’s comeback dream.

According to the tribuna.com, Bayern Munich progressed to the semi-finals with a 4-3 home victory, sealing a 6-4 aggregate win. In a disappointing night in Germany for the 15-time European champions, Vinícius Júnior came under criticism after failing to deliver a performance expected of him.

Following their dramatic Champions League quarter-final exit on 15 April, Real Madrid’s team bus left the Allianz Arena without Vinícius Júnior. The Brazilian forward was required to remain behind in Bavaria to fulfil mandatory post-match duties.

The match ended in heartbreak for Real Madrid, who were leading 3-2 until the 88th minute before conceding twice in the 89th and 94th minutes, turning the game on its head.

Shortly after the final whistle, the rest of the squad boarded the bus to head to the airport. However, Vinícius, who had played the full match, was selected for a random anti-doping test. As the procedure took longer than expected, the club’s logistics team decided that the main squad bus would proceed to the airport while the winger would travel separately by car later.

Although no official statement was made regarding the delay, it was in line with FIFA’s strict anti-doping regulations. Players cannot refuse such testing under any circumstances.
