ETS, the global education and talent solutions organisation behind the TOEFL iBT test, recently organised its first in-person TOEFL Experience Day in Bangladesh at Amari Dhaka.

The programme brought together more than 100 participants, including English language trainers, TOEFL preparation professionals, education counsellors, educators and channel partners.

Led by ETS experts and senior leaders from its South Asia team, the training introduced participants to the four strategic pillars of TOEFL, Fair, Agile, Smart and Tailored (FAST).

The sessions also provided guidance on the four skills assessed by the TOEFL iBT test, reading, writing, speaking and listening, while familiarising participants with the enhanced test format, delivery and assessment process.

Participants received official TOEFL preparation and classroom resources, including the TOEFL Overview Booklet, lesson plans, a study planner, access to TOEFL Practice Online and the pocket edition of the TOEFL Guide. ETS said these resources are intended to help trainers and counsellors better support students preparing for the test.

According to ETS, Bangladesh remains a high-potential outbound education market, driven by growing interest in international higher education and increasing demand for English language proficiency certification.

The organisation currently operates five authorised TOEFL test centres in Dhaka and one in Chattogram and is exploring the establishment of a new centre in Sylhet. The TOEFL iBT Home Edition also provides eligible students with an alternative testing option beyond major cities. ETS works with more than 200 channel partners across Bangladesh to promote awareness through student sessions, seminars and community engagement.

Trainers and counsellors are central to helping them navigate these choices and prepare effectively.

Through the TOEFL Experience Day in Dhaka, we brought official test information and ETS’s assessment expertise directly to those who guide students every day. By strengthening their understanding of the enhanced TOEFL iBT test, we aim to support more informed preparation and help students access a wider range of international education opportunities.”

ETS said the programme reflects its continued engagement with Bangladesh’s education community by providing trainers and counsellors with direct access to official test information, technical guidance and preparation resources to better support students pursuing international education.
