Oprotim murder: CoU suspends classes, exams for Sunday
Comilla University (CoU) authorities have declared Sunday a university-wide day of mourning following the brutal murder of Yashat Shahriar Oprotim, the son of an associate professor at the university.
All classes and scheduled examinations across the university’s departments will remain suspended on Sunday, according to an official press release signed by CoU Registrar Md Mojibur Rahman Majumder on Saturday.
Expressing deep shock and condemnation over the incident, the university administration conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
The authorities also called for a fair and speedy investigation, urging law enforcement agencies to arrest those responsible and ensure exemplary punishment.
Revised schedules for the suspended examinations will be announced later by the respective departments, the press release said.
Oprotim, who had been missing since Friday, was found dead in a jungle in the Kotbari area of Cumilla district on Saturday.
“The boy had severe injuries to his head. We are investigating the incident,” police said.
