The inaugural ceremony of the Ninth Bangladesh Qualifying Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2025 occurred on Thursday, February 6, at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB).
The ceremony was graced by Mr Asaduzzaman, Honourable Attorney General of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest. Among the esteemed dignitaries present were Mr Ishtiaque Abedin, Founder Member of the Board of Trustees of AIUB; Professor Dr Saiful Islam, Vice-Chancellor of AIUB; and Mr Nuran Choudhury, National Coordinator of ILSA Chapters Bangladesh. Widely recognised as the ‘World Cup of Moot,’ the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is the flagship program of the International Law Students Association (ILSA), the world’s largest law association.
More than 900 law schools from nearly 100 countries participated in this year’s global competition. The Bangladesh Qualifying Round has become the third-largest qualifying round globally and the second-largest among South Asian countries. This year’s contest features 44 participating universities and four observer teams, further underscoring the country’s growing legal expertise and advocacy skills on the international stage. The 2025 Bangladesh Qualifying Round is supported by Hearth Bangladesh and the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB).
