Comilla University launches first-ever national case competition ‘BizVenture’

Comilla University (CoU) has launched its first national-level business case competition, BizVenture, providing students with a platform to showcase their innovative ideas and compete with top minds from across the country.

Designed to go beyond a traditional competition, BizVenture aims to push boundaries, foster creativity, and inspire talented youth to develop innovative business solutions.

The competition is open to undergraduate students from universities across Bangladesh, challenging them to demonstrate problem-solving, leadership, and innovation skills. Registration began on 24 February and will continue until 18 March.

The event will be conducted in three phases, beginning with the “Idea Incubator” round, where participants will submit their business case ideas. Shortlisted teams will then proceed to “Innovation Oasis”, where they will present video-based case solutions. Finally, in the “Vision Vanguard” phase, finalists will present their comprehensive business plans before a panel of judges.

To enhance participants’ readiness, the organisers will arrange specialised training sessions and workshops before each phase.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Open to all undergraduate students in Bangladesh
  • Teams must consist of 2 to 4 members
  • All team members must belong to the same university; cross-university teams are not allowed
  • Team members may be from different academic departments or batches within the same university

Leading the organising committee as event heads are Sumaiya Kabir, a student from the 2019-20 session in the Department of Accounting and Information Systems, and Emrul Ahsan, from the 2018-19 session in the Department of Statistics.

“The primary objective of this national business competition, being held for the first time at Comilla University, is to familiarise students with real-world business challenges. We hope that by participating, students will acquire essential skills that will help them become successful entrepreneurs,” said Sumaiya Kabir, one of the organisers.

BizVenture offers a total prize pool of Tk1 lakh, along with additional benefits from event partners. The final round will take place at the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD) in Comilla.
