The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has appointed 151 candidates as head teachers in government primary schools. These individuals qualified through the 41st Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination but were not recommended for cadre positions due to limited vacancies. The appointments have been made under the non-cadre recruitment process, according to an official notification issued today.
The newly appointed head teachers (non-trained) will receive a salary under the 12th grade of the 2015 pay scale, ranging from Tk11,300 to Tk27,300. They have been assigned to vacant head teacher positions in government primary schools on a temporary basis, based on upazila or thana-level vacancies.
Terms of appointment
The notification outlines several conditions for their appointment:
- Probationary period: Newly appointed teachers must serve a two-year probationary period.
- Performance evaluation: If found unsuitable during probation, they may be dismissed without explanation.
- Seniority: Seniority will be determined based on the merit list recommended by the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC).
- Citizenship requirement: If a candidate marries or commits to marrying a non-Bangladeshi citizen, their appointment will be considered void.
- Training obligation: Non-trained teachers must complete the Basic Training for Primary Teachers (BTPPT) within four years of appointment.
- Employment regulations: Their employment will be governed by existing government rules and any future amendments.
- No travel allowance: Appointees will not be eligible for travel or daily allowances upon joining.
Additionally, any false or misleading information in their documents may result in the cancellation of their appointment and legal action.
