All 48 students from science who appeared for the SSC exam from Jashore Pulerhat Secondary School centre were initially announced to have failed in chemistry — a result that has now been corrected, with many of the students even securing GPA-5.

This year, a total of 329 students from six schools sat for the exam at the Pulerhat centre. When the results were published, teachers were shocked to discover that every science student had failed chemistry. Upon inquiry, it was revealed that this had happened due to an administrative error at the centre.

Md Khanzahan Ali, the exam centre secretary, informed the Jessore Education Board of the anomaly by sending an official letter requesting a re-evaluation of the results. On Sunday (13 July), the board reissued the results, confirming that not only had the students passed, but many had achieved the highest possible grade.

Abdul Matin, exam controller of the Jessore Education Board, told the media that the error occurred because the centre had failed to submit the practical exam marks for the subject. As a result, the system marked all 48 students as having failed chemistry.

“This was clearly a mistake on the centre’s part,” he said, adding that the corrected results have now been published. He also stated that action would be taken against the centre secretary and other responsible officials for negligence.
