Meanwhile, the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (Jucsu) will be held on 11 September and the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (Rucsu) election will be held on 15 September, according to announcements made by the respective university authorities.

Earlier, Ducsu election returning officials exchanged views with the student representatives of various department and Institute for second time as part of the preparation of Ducsu and hall union polls.

The second-round meeting was held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university on 14 July.

First round meeting was held on 13 July.

The student representatives gave their opinions on various aspects including polls preparation, administrative cooperation and security arrangement, and voting process.

They also gave various recommendations to ensure the environment of free, fair and peaceful election.

The Ducsu Election Commission, formed on 16 June, held its first meeting on 22 June.

Chief Returning Officer Prof Mohammad Zashim Uddin announced that stakeholder consultations would guide the scheduling process.

The commission met all hall provosts on 24 June and held sessions with student bodies on 26 June.

Ducsu elections have been held 37 times — 29 of them during British and Pakistani rule over 50 years.

Since independence, the university has held only eight elections in 53 years.

With no Ducsu polls in five years since the 2019 term expired, students currently lack representation in the university’s Senate.
