Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) will host “SUST Divisionals 2025”, a two-day inter-school and inter-college debate championship on 15–16 August.

Organised by the SUST School of Debate, the event will follow the Asian Parliamentary debate format to promote critical thinking, articulate communication and a culture of constructive dialogue among youth.

A total of 16 teams comprising 48 debaters from various institutions will compete. On the opening day, three tab rounds and the quarter-finals will be held at Academic Building C. The semi-finals and grand final will take place the following day at the Mini Auditorium, followed by a prize-giving ceremony.

SUST School of Debate President Farjin Anyar Rahman said the tournament is aimed at empowering voices, nurturing leaders and fostering empathy, reason and respect for diverse opinions.

Convener Sohag Miah said the organising team has worked to ensure a smooth and memorable experience for participants, with dedicated student volunteers managing coordination, hospitality and support.

The organisers have arranged certificates, refreshments and trophies to recognise outstanding performances.
