Dhaka Central University holds its first admissions test today for the ‘B’ Unit (Arts & Social Sciences) under the interim administration, with six candidates per seat.


The one-hour test for four-year honours courses will run from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. For 4,498 seats in Arts & Social Sciences, the university reports receiving 240,094 applications (the administration’s estimate of “about six per seat” has been communicated alongside this tally). A total of 890 previously registered candidates had sought refunds.


Test format
• MCQ, total 100 marks; –0.25 for each incorrect answer.
• Bangla & English: 50 marks, General Knowledge: 50 marks.
• The merit list will also include 20 marks based on SSC and HSC results.


Exam centres
According to the interim administration, today’s admissions test is being conducted on the campuses of the following colleges: Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Titumir College, Government Bangla College, Begum Badrunnessa Government Women’s College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, and Shaheed Suhrawardy College. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has deployed teams to visit centres alongside the interim administration’s supervision.
Professor A K M Ilias, head of the interim administration, said: “We have taken all necessary preparations to conduct the test smoothly. The Ministry of Education and the UGC are extending full cooperation.”
