BUFT concludes National Textile Management Fair 2025 with strong industry response
BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) hosted the “Shin Shin Group Presents National Textile Management Fair 2025” on 16 November at its Nishatnagar campus in Turag, Dhaka. Powered by Auko-Tex Group, co-powered by Citizens Bank, and sponsored by DYSIN and Lejin International Limited, the event was organised by the BUFT Textile Engineering Management & Innovation Club (BTEMIC).
The fair brought together more than 700 participants from 61 institutions — including 24 universities and 37 colleges — creating one of the country’s largest platforms for emerging textile talent. The programme focused on innovation, research, and industry–academia collaboration to support the future of Bangladesh’s textile and RMG sectors.
The opening session featured remarks from BUFT leaders and industry representatives, including Prof Dr Engr Ayub Nabi Khan, Acting Vice-Chancellor; Prof Dr Md Abdul Jalil, Dean, Faculty of Sciences; Md Rafiquzzaman, Registrar; Sharmin Alam Simi of Standard MH Group; Mohammad Faizur Rahman of AUST; TIM Zahid Hossain of Shin Shin Group; and Sayeed Ahmed Chowdhury of Square Textiles Division. Speakers highlighted the need for innovation-driven education and closer industry partnerships.
Textile Talk sessions provided insights into emerging trends and opportunities, while the Brain Battle Olympiad and Innovation Hub Exhibition showcased student projects on smart materials, sustainability, technical solutions, and textile research. Entries were assessed on creativity, feasibility, impact, communication, and research quality.
The closing and prize-giving ceremony was chaired by Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, BUFT and former BGMEA President. Guest of Honour Prof Dr Engr Ayub Nabi Khan, along with Special Guests Mohammed Nasir, Member, BoT, BUFT; Mohammad Sohel Sadat, Chairman, Shin Shin Group; Mohammad Hasan Arif, Vice-Chairman, EPB; Shahid Hussain Shamim, Director, SME Foundation; Engr Abdus Sobhan, Managing Director, Auko-Tex Group; Mehedi Hasan, Managing Director, Nature Craft Bangladesh Ltd; and Rafi Islam, CEO and Founder, BWM, commended BUFT for its focus on nurturing the next generation of textile professionals.
Winners of the Brain Battle Olympiad and Innovation Hub competitions received a total of Tk 90,000 in prizes. At the college level, Government Science College, Tamirul Millat Kamil Madrasha and Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College became champion, first runner-up and second runner-up respectively. At the university level, AUST secured the championship, followed by BUFT as first runner-up and Uttara University as second runner-up.
Prof Dr Md Alamgir Hossain, Treasurer of BUFT, delivered the vote of thanks. The event concluded with a cultural programme featuring student performances, underscoring BUFT’s continued commitment to textile education, innovation and youth development.
