The British Council and IDP have announced that IELTS on Paper will no longer be offered in Bangladesh from Sunday, 1 February 2026. From that date, test takers will be able to sit IELTS on Computer only.

According to the joint notice, IELTS on Computer will continue to be available throughout the week and typically delivers results within 1 to 2 days. Candidates will also have access to the IELTS One Skill Retake option, which is available exclusively for computer-based tests.

Last date for IELTS on Paper in Bangladesh: Saturday, 31 January 2026

IELTS on Computer only from: Sunday, 1 February 2026

Options for registered candidates
Test takers who are already registered for test dates after 31 January 2026 are eligible for the following options:

A free transfer to IELTS on Computer

A free transfer to IELTS on Paper, provided the test date is on or before 31 January 2026, subject to seat availability

A full refund, if payment has already been made to the British Council

The British Council has advised institutions and partners to contact affected candidates promptly to inform them of the available options.
