Ovijatrik RUET adventure club held Rajshahi’s third marathon
Ovijatrik – RUET Adventure Club organised its second marathon, also marking Rajshahi’s third ever marathon, on 9 January.
Formed with the vision of connecting students of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) and building a wider community, Ovijatrik – RUET Adventure Club aims to encourage exploration, resilience, and personal growth through collective journeys across Bangladesh.
Ovijatrik Marathon 2.0 succeeded in connecting the people, culture, and natural beauty of Rajshahi with participants from across the country. Runners from different districts, alongside local participants, took part in the event, making it an inclusive gathering. For the city of Rajshahi, this was the third marathon hosted, following the successful Ovijatrik Marathon 1.0 held last year.
This year’s marathon featured two race categories: a 10-kilometre fun run and a 21-kilometre half marathon. The race started from the central library of RUET, with routes passing through the city’s green roads. Over 400 participants registered for the event.
Registered runners received a jersey, bib number, certificate, and medal upon completing the race within the stipulated cut-off time. A total prize money of BDT 41,000 had been announced for the winners.
The marathon was supported by organisations that promote movement and youth empowerment. Mazidsons Constructions Ltd has joined as co-power sponsor, while Consummate Engineering and Solutions Ltd is the strategic partner. Mentors’ supported the event as the learning partner, and Macaw had come on board as the food partner.
The Business Standard was the print and media partner for the event, while TBS Graduates was supporting it as the youth engagement partner.
