3rd Bangladesh AI Olympiad national round to be held on 16 May 2026
The third edition of the Bangladesh AI Olympiad (BdAIO) is set to hold its national round on 16 May 2026, aiming to raise awareness and develop skills in artificial intelligence among school and college students across the country.
The national round will take place at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) campus in Dhaka.
Prior to the final round, regional selection rounds will be held across five divisions from 2 May to 10 May 2026. According to the schedule, the Dhaka regional round will be hosted at BUBT on 2 May 2026. The Rangpur regional round will take place on 8 May 2026 at Saidpur Cantonment Public School and College, involving participants from Rangpur, Dinajpur, and Nilphamari.
On 9 May 2026, regional rounds will be held simultaneously in Rajshahi at Rajshahi College, in Chattogram at Chittagong Independent University (CIU), and in Khulna at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET). For students without access to nearby venues, an online “e-Olympiad” will be organised on 10 May 2026.
Interested participants can register until 28 April 2026 (10:00 PM) through the official platform, with detailed information and syllabus available on the BdAIO website.
The competition will feature two main categories. The “AI Challenge” is open to students from class 6 up to HSC 2026, A-Level (A2), Alim, and polytechnic students (up to fourth semester) under the age of 20. This category will be conducted on Kaggle and will involve problem-solving using Python, machine learning, and neural networks.
The “AI Quiz” category, designed for students up to SSC 2026 level, will be free of cost and will focus on basic AI knowledge along with mathematical and logical reasoning skills.
Speaking about the initiative, S M Moinul Mahasen, a professor at the Institute of Information Technology, University of Dhaka, highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence in shaping the future and described the Olympiad as an effective platform for developing practical problem-solving skills.
Encouraging students, Hossain Ahmed from Microsoft noted that learning AI goes beyond coding, emphasising its role in preparing young learners for future global opportunities.
The event is organised by the Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN). BUBT is serving as the platinum sponsor and host of the national round, while REVE Chat is the powered-by partner.
