BUET’s IAT calls for papers for ICATS 2027 conference on sustainability
The Institute of Appropriate Technology (IAT) at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has issued a formal call for papers for the upcoming International Conference on Appropriate Technology and Sustainability 2027 (ICATS 2027).
The biennial conference is scheduled to take place from 19 to 21 January 2027 at BUET in Dhaka.
As Bangladesh continues to navigate rapid industrialisation, climate vulnerability and resource constraints, ICATS 2027 aims to serve as a global platform for researchers, industry leaders, policymakers and development partners to exchange knowledge and build partnerships for sustainable industrial transformation.
The conference has invited submissions on a wide range of research and innovation topics, including sustainable industrial systems, water and climate resilience, appropriate technologies in large enterprises and SMEs, community-focused technologies, digital and intelligent technologies for sustainability, sustainable materials and process innovation, as well as policy, governance and technology transfer.
Organisers said all accepted extended abstracts will be published in the conference proceedings, while selected papers will be invited for publication in peer-reviewed indexed journals.
Key deadlines for the conference include:
- 30 June 2026: Deadline for abstract submission
- 31 July 2026: Author notification and invitation for extended abstract submission
- 30 September 2026: Submission deadline for extended abstracts
- 31 October 2026: Notification of extended abstract review
- 30 November 2026: Camera-ready manuscript submission
The conference will be co-chaired by Professor Dr Rafiqul Gani, CEO of PSE for SPEED and Distinguished Adjunct Professor at IAT, BUET, and Professor Dr Mohidus Samad Khan, Director of IAT, BUET, and Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at BUET.
The event welcomes participation from researchers, industry leaders, technology innovators, government agencies, development partners, NGOs, entrepreneurs, graduate students and early-career researchers from both Bangladesh and abroad.
