Scarlett Johansson is joining Robert Pattinson in ‘The Batman 2’
Scarlett Johansson has officially joined the cast of The Batman: Part II. She will star alongside Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne in the sequel to Matt Reeves’ 2022 DC hit. The announcement was made in Reeves’ usual cryptic style.
Reeves shared the news on Thursday 14 May via his X account. Instead of a standard press release, he posted GIFs from his cast members’ previous films.
For Johansson, he shared a clip from her 2013 film Under the Skin, with the caption: “Next exit, Gotham… Welcome.”
Fans have been speculating that Johansson will play Gilda Dent, the wife of Harvey Dent, based on the hints Reeves gave.
She is not the only new actor joining the sequel. Sebastian Stan, 43, is reported to be playing Harvey Dent himself, also known as Two-Face, Gotham’s district attorney turned villain.
Charles Dance, is rumoured to be playing Christopher Dent, Harvey’s father. Another actor, Koch, also appeared in Reeves’ posts, though his role has not been confirmed.
Robert Pattinson, returns as Batman. He will be joined by Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Colin Farrell reprising his role as the Penguin.
Zoë Kravitz, who played Selina Kyle in the first film, is reportedly not returning.
The Batman: Part II is written by Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin. Filming is set to begin in spring 2026, and the film is due in cinemas on 1 October 2027.
