A light-hearted moment involving teenage striker Endrick and head coach Carlo Ancelotti stole the spotlight during Brazil’s win over Japan at the 2026 World Cup, with the clip quickly going viral on social media.
During Brazil’s Round of 32 match against the Japan national football team, Endrick was caught on camera approaching the technical area and cheekily taking a pack of chewing gum from Ancelotti. The 19-year-old then handed the gum out to teammates seated on the bench, triggering laughter along the sidelines.
The moment drew an amused reaction from Neymar, whose laughter was clearly visible and quickly became a talking point among fans online.
Endrick, who plays his club football for Real Madrid, has been one of the youngest faces in the Brazil national football team squad at the tournament. While his on-field contribution was more subdued on the night, his off-field antics ensured he remained firmly in the spotlight.
Ancelotti, meanwhile, is well known for his habit of chewing gum on the touchline. The Italian coach has previously said he uses gum to manage stress during matches, a routine that has followed him throughout his managerial career.
The video, shared on X on 30 June, has amassed more than 2.7 million views, with fans largely responding with amusement to the young forward’s playful gesture.
Brazil went on to secure a 2–1 victory over Japan, progressing to the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Goals from Casemiro and Gabriel Martinelli sealed the result, but it was Endrick’s sideline prank that proved to be one of the match’s most widely shared moments.
