Buft hosts Apparel Arena 2026 grand finale
BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (Buft) hosted the grand finale of Buft Apparel Arena 2026 on Monday (20 July), providing students with a platform to demonstrate their knowledge and practical skills in apparel merchandising.
Organised by the Buft Merchandising Club, the competition was held at the university’s Multipurpose Hall and brought together students, academics, faculty members and industry professionals.
Finalist teams presented their ideas and solutions before a panel, showcasing their analytical, problem-solving and presentation skills.
Buft Board of Trustees Chairman Faruque Hassan attended the programme as chief guest.
Buft Vice-Chancellor-designate Professor Dr Engineer Ayub Nabi Khan, Faculty of Apparel Studies Dean Professor Dr Engineer Mohammed Rubaiyat Chowdhury and Entrust Group Managing Director Mohammad Aktaruzzaman attended as special guests.
The programme began with a recitation from the Holy Quran and the national anthem. Department of Apparel Manufacturing Management Lecturer and Buft Merchandising Club Adviser Rakibul Islam Shifat delivered the welcome address.
Addressing the event, the speakers highlighted the importance of innovation, digital transformation, sustainability and industry–academia collaboration in preparing graduates for the rapidly evolving global apparel industry.
They encouraged students to strengthen their leadership skills, technical expertise and entrepreneurial mindset to meet future industry challenges.
The programme concluded with the announcement of the winning teams and the presentation of awards. Commemorative potted plants were also presented to the guests and champions.
A farewell reception was held for the outgoing committee of the Buft Merchandising Club.
Department of Apparel Manufacturing Management Assistant Professor and Head Sabbir Ahmed Abir delivered the vote of thanks.
