Mandy Dental College and Hospital marked its 20th anniversary and Mandy Day 2026 with a grand reunion of former students and teachers in Dhaka on 5 September.

Jointly organised by Mandy Dental College and Hospital and Specialised Healthcare Foundation, the event at Mandians’ Green Ground in Rayerbazar Riverview Model Town brought together invited alumni, teachers, doctors, officials and other guests, according to a press release.

The programme featured an anniversary rally, an inaugural ceremony, recitations from the Quran, Gita, Tripitaka and Bible, the national anthem, alum reminiscences, awards, recognitions and cultural performances.

Member of the National Standing Committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Executive Director of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation, Professor Dr Farhad Halim Donar attended the inaugural ceremony as a guest and chief guest.

He called on students and doctors of Mandy Dental College to play a more active role in dental healthcare at home and abroad.

President of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) Professor Dr Harun Al Rashid; DAB Secretary General Dr Zahirul Islam Shakil; and President of BMPA and BPHODA Dr Mosaddak Hossain Biswas DMD attended as special guests.

Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Sheikh Rabiul Alam MP attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest.

Director of NITOR and DAB Senior Vice President Professor Dr Abul Kenan; DAB Treasurer Dr Mehdi Hasan; Physician on Special Assignment at the Honourable Prime Minister’s Office Professor Dr Shah Muhammad Amanullah; BNP Assistant Health Secretary Dr Parvez Reza Kakon; DAB Senior Joint Secretary Professor Dr Khalequzzaman Pipu; and Chairman of the Governing Body of Mandy Dental College and Hospital Professor Sheikh Forhad attended as special guests, among the guests.

Mandy Dental College Principal Professor Dr Salahuddin Al Azad said technological advances and a growing focus on patient-centred care were rapidly transforming the global healthcare landscape.

He said dentistry was no longer confined to conventional treatment methods and was increasingly becoming a technology-driven, research-based and evidence-based field of medicine.

He expressed hope that graduates, researchers and clinicians of Mandy Dental College, collectively known as “Mandians”, would help lead this transformation by combining academic excellence, research and compassionate patient care.

He said the proposed establishment of the National Dental University (NDU), with support from Specialised Healthcare Foundation, would represent an important step forward.

He added that the proposed university aims to become an international centre of excellence for dental education, research and innovation.

Discussing the institution’s plans, Professor Dr Salahuddin highlighted treatment methods and technologies including regenerative therapeutics and stem-cell technology, 3D printing and additive biomanufacturing, robotics and automation, and conscious sedation.

The Closing Ceremony and Cultural Fest 2026 was held in the evening and attended by doctors, dental specialists, academics and other professionals.

Students and alums performed during the cultural programme, which also featured musical performances by Nodi and ARK.

The celebration concluded with a reflection on Mandy Dental College’s achievements over the past two decades and its plans for the future.
