Mutual Trust Bank (MTB) has launched “MTB Smart Student Banking,” a digital student file portal for Bangladeshi students pursuing higher education abroad, designed to simplify applications and payments.

The portal was launched yesterday (1 October) at MTB Centre, the bank’s corporate head office, at an event attended by Managing Director and CEO Syed Mahbubur Rahman and senior officials, according to the press release.

The bank described the platform as the first of its kind in the market, enabling students planning to study abroad to initiate their student file applications remotely.

Students can register through the portal, provide the required information, upload relevant documents, and track their application status digitally.

MTB said the initiative is expected to improve customer convenience and processing efficiency, reduce turnaround times, make documents easier to track and enhance transparency, while maintaining regulatory requirements and internal controls.

Attendees at the launch included Additional Managing Director and Chief Business Officer Chowdhury Akhtar Asif; Deputy Managing Director and Head of Retail Md Shafquat Hossain; Deputy Managing Director and Head of Treasury Md Shamsul Islam; Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer Md Bakhteyer Hossain; and Deputy Managing Director AKM Tareq.

Chief Digital Officer Khalid Hossain; Head of Retail Business and Chief Bancassurance Officer Tahsin Shahid; Head of Student Banking Md Arifur Rahman; and Head of Core Banking Systems and Project Management Department Sharif Ahmed also attended, along with senior officials from relevant business and support units.

MTB said the launch forms part of its digital transformation efforts and reflects its commitment to providing convenient, technology-driven banking services for students.
