JU to introduce separate admission questions for English-medium students
Jahangirnagar University (JU) has agreed in principle to introduce separate admission test questions for English-medium students based on their own curriculum.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the university’s Academic Council on Tuesday, JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Nurul Islam told Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).
“This is not a quota or any reserved opportunity. They will compete with other candidates based on their marks,” the vice-chancellor said.
Under the decision, English-medium students will receive multiple-choice questions based on their O-Level and A-Level syllabuses instead of translated questions based on the Bangla-medium curriculum.
“The question format will remain the same, but the syllabus will be different,” Prof Nurul said.
He said the Central Admission Management Committee would decide how the Academic Council’s decision would be implemented in the admission tests.
