DEA IUB organises tree plantation programme at Pachkhola Primary School
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award at Independent University, Bangladesh (DEA IUB), in collaboration with Dreamers Bangladesh and It’s Humanity Foundation (IHF), organised the Tree Plantation Program 2026 at Pachkhola Primary School in Satarkul, Dhaka, on 6 July.
The initiative aimed to promote environmental sustainability and raise awareness among young students about the importance of protecting the environment.
During the programme, students learned about the role of trees in maintaining ecological balance and received hands-on training on proper tree plantation techniques and the care of newly planted saplings. They also took part in the tree plantation activities, demonstrating their commitment to environmental conservation.
The programme was held under the supervision of Saiful Kabir, assistant director of UGC and Government Affairs at the Office of the Registrar and award coordinator of DEA IUB. Former DEA IUB office bearers Tanjim Ahammed Adnan, Shahrin Majumder Mawa and Tahmina Akter Sristy also attended the event.
Representatives from Dreamers Bangladesh, including founder and executive director Mohammad Moktarul Islam Mim and co-founders Yasin Al Rashid and Tahsin Al Rashid, were present. The programme also received support from Atul Chandra Roy, head teacher of Pachkhola Primary School.
As part of the event, Dreamers Bangladesh celebrated its sixth anniversary with the participation of students, adding a community-focused dimension to the programme.
The organisers said the initiative was intended to encourage environmental responsibility among young people and inspire them to contribute to building a greener and more sustainable Bangladesh. They also expressed their commitment to organising similar awareness and community engagement programmes in the future.
