BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (Buft) inaugurated the Abdullah Hil Rakib Auditorium on 29 July, honouring the late industry leader, education advocate and former member of the university’s Board of Trustees for his contributions to higher education and Bangladesh’s apparel sector.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Buft and former President of BGMEA; Md Moshiul Azam Shajal, Member of the Board of Trustees; Mohammed Nasir, Member of the Board of Trustees; Mohammad Sohel Sadat, Chairman of Shin-Shin Group; Dr Afroza Shahin, Managing Director of TEAM Group; Abdullah Hil Nakib, Deputy Managing Director of TEAM Group; Sharmeen Hassan, Director of Giant Group; Professor Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice-Chancellor (Designate) of Buft; the Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Treasurer; the Registrar; faculty members, officials, students and distinguished guests.

The programme began with the unveiling of the newly named auditorium, followed by the screening of a documentary highlighting the life, leadership and lasting contributions of Abdullah Hil Rakib to Bangladesh’s ready-made garment industry and his commitment to education and institutional development.

The event concluded with a doa seeking eternal peace for the departed soul and blessings for the continued progress of the university.
