Capitalizer 2026 returns with expanded scale and industry backing
One of Bangladesh’s largest nationwide investment strategy competitions is set to return for its sixth edition, as the BUP Finance Society under the Department of Business Administration in Finance and Banking launches its flagship event, Capitalizer 2026.
Organised by Bangladesh University of Professionals, the competition is powered by Eastern Bank Limited and ACI Limited, with Gold Kinen serving as co-power partner.
Over the years, Capitalizer has evolved into a prominent inter-university platform, bringing together aspiring finance enthusiasts from across the country. The competition aims to bridge academic knowledge with real-world financial complexity, encouraging participants to develop analytical thinking and informed decision-making through practical investment challenges.
Registration for the 2026 edition opened on 16April and will remain active until 4 May. An early bird window is available until 22 April, offering a discounted registration fee to encourage wider participation.
This year, organisers expect participation from more than 350 teams representing universities nationwide. The competition journey will begin on May 6 with the online round, “Crack the Case”, where teams will analyse business scenarios and present investment strategies. To support participants, an introductory workshop is scheduled for 5 May.
Selected teams will advance to the offline round, “Deal Behind the Bars”, on 15May, where 18 to 20 teams will face high-pressure scenarios designed to test strategic thinking, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
The competition will culminate in the final round, “Capitalize It Beyond”, where the top six teams will present actionable stock market entry strategies for a startup. The grand finale is scheduled for May 23.
Participants will compete for a total prize pool of BDT 400,000, along with gold rewards for the top three teams. The champion will receive BDT 150,000 and 2 grams of gold, while the first and second runners-up will be awarded BDT 100,000 and 1 gram of gold, and BDT 70,000 and 0.5 grams of gold respectively.
Beyond the competitive aspect, Capitalizer 2026 aims to highlight emerging talent within Bangladesh’s finance ecosystem. The initiative encourages participants to formulate innovative financial strategies, defend investment decisions, and navigate real-world business challenges with confidence and insight.
