DU MUN

The Dhaka University Model United Nations Association (DUMUNA) will introduce a new committee format at DUNMUN 2026, featuring a first-of-its-kind Cabinet versus Shadow Cabinet simulation of the Jatiya Sangsad.

Unlike traditional Model United Nations committees, the format will place the governing Cabinet and the opposition Shadow Cabinet on the same floor, allowing participants to debate, challenge, and respond to policy decisions in real time. The simulation is designed to mirror parliamentary dynamics more closely than conventional MUN structures.

The initiative is aligned with the theme of DUNMUN 2026, “Consolidating Effective Multilateralism by Upholding Unity in Diversity in an Evolving Global Landscape.”

According to organisers, the committee is intended to encourage structured dialogue and institutional debate, where differing political perspectives can be expressed within a framework of respect and procedural discipline.

The format aims to help participants develop skills in policy analysis, debate, and negotiation, while also fostering an understanding of parliamentary functioning and democratic processes.

DUMUNA stated that the new committee seeks to promote constructive engagement across differing viewpoints, emphasising the importance of listening, discussion, and institutional responsibility in leadership development.
