MetLife and Global Citizen launch global “Footwork for Futures” challenge to support education through sport
MetLife, in collaboration with Global Citizen, has launched “Footwork for Futures”, a global football-themed social media campaign aimed at improving access to quality education and sports opportunities for children and young people.
The initiative encourages participants in Bangladesh and around the world to post short videos of themselves juggling or attempting to juggle a football on platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and X, using the hashtag #FootworkForFutures.
For every eligible video submitted, MetLife will donate USD 5 to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, up to a total of USD 100,000. The fund supports community-based organisations that provide education and sports opportunities to children globally.
The campaign builds on the MetLife Foundation’s wider commitment of USD 9 million as a founding donor to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which focuses on grassroots initiatives combining learning and sport to empower youth.
Speaking about the initiative, Ala Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh, said football has the power to unite communities and, when combined with education, can create meaningful opportunities for young people. He added that the campaign aims to make participation simple, engaging, and impactful.
Participation is open to all individuals regardless of skill level, with organisers encouraging creative and responsible submissions. Each video must feature a real person safely juggling or attempting to juggle a football.
The campaign will run from 12 May to 19 July 2026, or until the donation target is reached. All entries must comply with platform rules and campaign terms, with organisers reserving the right to disqualify submissions that do not meet the requirements.
