ISU welcomes freshers with cultural event
International Standard University organised a colourful freshers’ reception for students of the Spring 2026 semester at its Mohakhali campus auditorium today (14 May).
The programme was marked by enthusiastic participation of newcomers, colourful arrangements and captivating cultural performances.
The programme was chaired by ISU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Awal Khan.
Board of Trustees Member Secretary Hasnat Mosharraf attended the event as the guest of honour.
Addressing the newly admitted students, Professor Dr Abdul Awal Khan said ISU remains committed to providing quality education and nurturing not only competent graduates, but also responsible and compassionate individuals.
He urged students to maintain discipline, lead organised lives and develop a strong sense of responsibility towards society and the nation.
Emphasising the importance of becoming ideal citizens, he encouraged them to contribute to the country’s development through knowledge and integrity.
The vice-chancellor also stressed the significance of engaging in research activities from the beginning of university life, noting that research plays a vital role in enhancing students’ knowledge and skills.
He further highlighted the need to acquire relevant technological competencies to succeed in today’s rapidly evolving world.
Hasnat Mosharraf said university education extends beyond achieving academic excellence; it also involves creating a positive impact on society, developing leadership qualities and fostering the ability to empower others.
He encouraged students to cultivate an environment based on cooperation, honesty and mutual trust.
He also underscored the importance of lifelong learning and urged them to embrace emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to remain prepared for future challenges.
During the event, the newcomers were welcomed with flowers and introduced to the university’s academic programmes, facilities and co-curricular opportunities.
A cultural segment featuring music, dance and group performances by students from different departments added to the festive atmosphere and turned the auditorium into a lively celebration.
Among others present were university Treasurer Professor HTM Quader Newaz, Faculty of Business Studies Dean Professor Dr Monjur Morshed Mahmud, Faculty of Engineering and Technology Dean Professor Md Abul Kashem, IQAC Director Professor Dr Mohammad Ekramul Haque, Department of Business Administration Professor Mohammad Ali, Registrar Md Faizullah Kawsik, heads of different departments, faculty members, officials and a large number of students.
