IQAC ELT

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organised a half-day workshop on the curriculum review of the Bachelor of Arts in English Language Teaching (ELT) programme on 10 May 2026.

The workshop was conducted by Professor Md Abdur Razzak, Director of IQAC, IUB, with the aim of strengthening the academic quality, relevance, and outcome-based structure of the programme in line with contemporary educational standards and accreditation requirements.

Eight faculty members from the Department of English and Modern Languages, led by the department head, participated in the event.

During the workshop, Professor Razzak highlighted the importance of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), constructive alignment, and continuous quality improvement in curriculum design and review.

The discussions focused on evaluating the existing curriculum structure, course learning outcomes (CLOs), programme learning outcomes (PLOs), assessment methods, credit distribution, and the alignment of the programme with national and international academic benchmarks.

Participants also discussed the integration of innovative teaching approaches, technology-enhanced learning, practical language teaching components, and employability-focused skills within the curriculum.

The workshop further emphasised the role of stakeholder feedback, industry relevance, and graduate competencies in developing a modern and globally competitive ELT curriculum.

Faculty members actively shared recommendations regarding course modernisation, sequencing, CLO and PLO mapping, and strategies to improve student learning experiences.

Organisers said the interactive discussions helped identify areas for further enhancement to ensure that the BA in ELT programme remains academically rigorous, learner-centred, and internationally competitive.

The workshop concluded with a renewed commitment from both the department and IQAC to continue collaborative efforts aimed at maintaining academic excellence, strengthening quality assurance practices, and promoting continuous curriculum improvement at IUB.
