IUB student receives prestigious CAPRES Research Grant 2026
Umme Habiba, a Master’s in Development Studies (MDS) student at the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), has been selected for the CAPRES Research Grant 2026.
She was selected following a competitive review and interview process, with her research proposal being recognised for its quality, innovation and potential contribution to climate change research in Bangladesh.
Under the programme, Umme Habiba will receive financial support and academic mentorship through the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) to carry out her research.
Her research project is jointly supervised by Professor Dr Kazi Mahmudur Rahman and Professor Dr Md Hafizur Rahman.
The Department of Social Sciences and Humanities congratulated Umme Habiba on the achievement, describing it as a reflection of her academic dedication and commitment to addressing environmental and social challenges through research.
The department also noted that the recognition highlights its continued focus on promoting high-quality research and academic excellence among students.
