North South University celebrated Pahela Baishakh 1433 with a day-long programme on 14 April 2026, featuring cultural performances, festive gatherings and a Boishakhi Mela on campus.

The event was organised by the North South University Sangskritik Sangathan, while a separate Boishakhi Mela was arranged by the NSU Social Services Club.

The main programme began at 10:00 am and was attended by MA Kashem, member and former chairman of the Board of Trustees of North South University and chairman of Southeast Bank PLC, as chief guest. The programme was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, with members of the Board of Trustees present as special guests.

The celebration opened with a Boishakhi procession, followed by recitation, musical performances, a morning dance segment, Baul performances and a flash mob. The day’s main attraction was a live performance by Chirkutt, while the programme concluded with a traditional jatra performance in the evening.

Alongside the cultural programme, the Boishakhi Mela featured stalls offering traditional food, handicrafts, games and cultural activities, creating a lively festive atmosphere for students and visitors.

Through the celebration, North South University marked the Bengali New Year with music, dance and traditional festivities, bringing together different segments of campus life in a colourful observance.
