The special guests at the event included Professor Dr Md Arfan Ali, Proctor of the University, and Professor Dr Md Ashabul Haque, Director of Student Affairs. Professor Dr Jamilur Rahman, Chief Moderator of the SAU Computer Club, was also present.

The training sessions were conducted by Naimul Islam, Consultant at MPH, and Professor Dr M Mohi-Ud-Din of the Department of Crop Botany at Gazipur Agricultural University.

Participants received hands-on, guided training in data analysis, complex research techniques, graphing and visualisation, and research paper preparation using R programming.

Professor Dr M Mohi-Ud-Din said that regular practice is essential when learning R programming. He noted that while it may seem challenging at first, consistent practice turns it into a highly effective tool for research and thesis work.

Professor Dr Md Ashabul Haque said the university encourages its clubs to move forward with creative and innovative thinking, adding that the administration will continue to support positive student-led initiatives.

Professor Dr Md Arfan Ali highlighted the growing importance of data analysis in research and publication in internationally recognised journals. He said students should take full advantage of such hands-on learning opportunities to enhance their skills.

Professor Dr Jamilur Rahman said agricultural science and research are closely connected, with data analysis playing a vital role. Considering its importance, the workshop was extended from two days to three. He added that R programming is creating new opportunities not only in research but also in the job market, while enabling the preparation of high-quality presentations and reports.

He further noted that with the integration of artificial intelligence, R programming has become an even more powerful and modern research tool.
