The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) improved its position in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026, moving to the 801-1000 band from the 1001-1500 band in the previous edition.

The 2026 rankings assessed 1,603 universities from 116 countries and territories based on their contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through teaching, research, stewardship and community engagement.

Among private universities in Bangladesh, ULAB ranked first in SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. The university also placed sixth in SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals and SDG 4: Quality Education.

In addition, ULAB ranked seventh among private universities in the country for SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth and SDG 5: Gender Equality, while securing the 11th position in SDG 1: No Poverty.

The rankings evaluate how higher education institutions contribute to sustainable development through academic activities, research, institutional practices and outreach initiatives.

According to the university, its performance reflects ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability into teaching, research, campus operations and community engagement.

University officials said the recognition was the result of the collective contributions of faculty members, students, researchers, staff and partners involved in sustainability initiatives.

The university said it would continue aligning its academic and institutional priorities with the Sustainable Development Goals while expanding its sustainability-related programmes and partnerships.
