World University of Bangladesh concludes Business Idea Competition 2026
Team AmarDoctor from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering has been crowned champion of the World University of Bangladesh Business Idea Competition 2026.
Green Genesis from the Department of Textile Engineering was named first runner-up, while Pharmagoal from the Department of Pharmacy secured the second runner-up position.
EcoPulp BD from the Department of Textile Engineering received the Best Innovative Idea Award, while CareCatalyst from the Department of Business Administration won the Best Social Impact Idea Award.
The university concluded the competition, titled “Innovation for Sustainable Growth”, with an awards ceremony at the Founding Treasurer Morsheda Choudhury Auditorium on 15 July.
More than 126 participants and guests, including academics, industry representatives, judges, mentors, faculty members, students and organisers, attended the event.
Professor Zaki Imam, Registrar of World University of Bangladesh, delivered the welcome address.
Md Nazrul Islam Sarker, Additional Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, attended as guest of honour. He highlighted the role of innovation-driven entrepreneurship in strengthening Bangladesh’s economy and encouraged students to turn their ideas into viable ventures.
Professor Dr Md Mamun Habib, Head of the Department of General Management at Independent University, Bangladesh, and Dr Rafiuddin Ahmed, Professor in the Department of Marketing at the University of Dhaka, attended as special guests.
They stressed the importance of innovation, sustainability and stronger collaboration between academia and industry.
Professor Dr AQM Shafiul Azam, Dean of Academic Affairs and Research, praised the participants and organising team for successfully hosting the university’s flagship entrepreneurship competition.
Professor Dr M Nurul Islam, Pro Vice-Chancellor of World University of Bangladesh, said the initiative would help promote entrepreneurial thinking and sustainable innovation among students.
The Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of World University of Bangladesh, who attended as chief guest, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to supporting innovation, entrepreneurship and industry engagement.
Crests and certificates were presented to the judges, guests and organising committee members in recognition of their contributions.
Professor Dr Selim Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies and Convener of the competition, thanked the advisory and organising committees, judges, mentors, faculty members, volunteers, sponsors and participants.
He encouraged students to transform their ideas into sustainable ventures capable of generating positive social and economic impacts.
