The ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise is officially heading to television, with Peacock ordering a new scripted series based on the long-running action saga. The streamer is targeting a 2028 premiere.

The series was first announced as being in development during NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation in May, where Vin Diesel revealed plans to expand the franchise beyond the big screen. Diesel will executive produce the series alongside Sam Vincent of One Race, Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty, as well as Chris Morgan of Jeff Kirschenbaum and Chris Morgan Productions.

Mike Daniels, known for ‘Sons of Anarchy’ and ‘Shades of Blue’, and Wolfe Coleman, who worked on ‘Shades of Blue’ and ‘9-1-1: Lone Star’, will serve as co-showrunners, pilot writers and executive producers.

Peacock’s planned 2028 launch is expected to coincide with the next franchise film, ‘Fast Forever’, which is currently scheduled for release on 17 March 2028. Universal Television will serve as the studio.

The television expansion follows Netflix’s animated series ‘Fast & Furious: Spy Racers’, which ran for six seasons between 2019 and 2021. The new live-action series is intended to further explore the franchise’s characters and stories as the film series approaches its next chapter.
