Twelve students fell ill after eating food supplied under the school feeding programme at a government primary school in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj.
Following the incident, the district administration has formed a six-member committee to investigate the quality of the food and determine the cause of the students’ illness.
Chapainawabganj District Primary Education Officer Saiful Islam confirmed the matter today (Oct 1).
He said the students experienced stomach pain and vomiting after eating the school feeding food at Lahlamauri Government Primary School around noon on Wednesday.
As their condition deteriorated, teachers took them to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex, where they received treatment. All 12 students recovered and returned home the same day, he said.

The committee has been asked to assess the quality of the food supplied under the school feeding programme, determine the actual cause of the students’ illness and identify any person or organisation responsible.
It has been directed to submit a comprehensive report within three working days.
Saiful Islam said details about the quality of the food and the cause of the students’ illness will be known after the committee submits its report.
