IHF, ISD collaborate on school sanitation project at Panchkhola Primary School
Its Humanity Foundation (IHF) has begun implementing a washroom construction initiative at Panchkhola Primary School, funded by International School Dhaka (ISD), aimed at improving sanitation and hygiene facilities for students.
Representatives from both organisations recently visited the school to observe construction progress and engage with the school community. The visit brought together students, teachers, and administrative staff, reflecting a collaborative approach to the initiative.
From ISD, attendees included Ayaz Alam Qayami, Charles Gumba, Faresta Ali Mallick, and FHM Rakiba. The IHF delegation was led by Adnan Hossain, Founder and Executive Director, along with programme and communication team members.
Speaking on the initiative, Adnan Hossain emphasised that access to proper sanitation is a fundamental right and a key element of a safe and inclusive learning environment. He noted that the project goes beyond infrastructure development, contributing to students’ dignity, health, and overall well-being. Improved sanitation, he added, also plays a crucial role in increasing school attendance, particularly among girls.
Once completed, the newly constructed washroom facilities are expected to directly benefit around 150 students at Panchkhola Primary School.
A notable aspect of the initiative is the active involvement of ISD students, who participated in the construction process. Their engagement highlighted a strong sense of social responsibility and experiential learning.
Reflecting on the experience, participating students described the initiative as meaningful, noting that contributing to improved sanitation facilities has a direct impact on the daily lives, health, and comfort of fellow students.
The project underscores a collaborative effort between ISD and IHF to promote improved sanitation and create a healthier, more supportive learning environment for schoolchildren.
