DU student wins gold medal in International Astronomy and Astrophysics Competition 2024

Md Badhan Mridha, a student from the Physics Department at the University of Dhaka, has achieved remarkable success by winning the Gold Medal and securing first place worldwide in the prestigious International Astronomy and Astrophysics Competition 2024.

The competition is structured in three stages: the qualification round, the pre-final round, and the final round. Contestants must advance through the first two stages to qualify for the final round.

This year saw participation from approximately 5,040 contestants representing 90 countries, with 1,700 advancing to the final round. In an outstanding performance, Md Badhan Mridha topped the Youth category with full marks, earning the Gold Honour. Additionally, he was awarded the “National Award” for being the best contestant from Bangladesh.
