The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka has officially opened applications for the prestigious 2026-2027 Fulbright Foreign Student Program, offering Bangladeshi professionals the opportunity to pursue master’s degrees in the United States.
Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and managed by the Institute of International Education (IIE), the scholarship targets high-achieving young academics and professionals ready to lead in their respective fields.
Priority Candidates and Diverse Disciplines
The program specifically seeks junior faculty from higher education institutions, as well as mid-level employees from research organisations, think tanks, and NGOs. While applications from all disciplines are welcome, the Embassy is highlighting several priority areas for the current cycle:
- Public Policy & Social Sciences: International Relations, Political Science, and Public Administration.
- Business & Economics: International Business, MBA in Healthcare Administration, Economic Policy, and Environmental Economics.
- STEM & Education: Biology, Pharmacy, Physics, and Education Policy or Curriculum Development.
- Specialised Studies: Cyber Security, Energy Engineering, Migration Management, and American History.
Strict Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this competitive scholarship, applicants must be Bangladeshi citizens currently residing in the country and meet the following standards:
- Academic Excellence: Hold a four-year bachelor’s degree with an outstanding record from an accredited Bangladeshi university.
- International Education Status: Must not have a degree from a U.S. institution or a master’s degree from any foreign country.
- Experience: Possess at least two years of full-time professional experience in their proposed field of study.
- Language Proficiency: Demonstrate English fluency with a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 or a TOEFL iBT score of 90.
Application Process and Deadline
Interested candidates must submit a comprehensive online application package, including academic transcripts, three letters of recommendation from registered referees, and valid TOEFL/IELTS scores.
While not mandatory at the initial stage, GRE or GMAT scores should be included if available.
The deadline for submission is Saturday, 17 May 2025, at 11:59 p.m. BST.
