DIMFF holds one-minute mobile filmmaking workshop for students at St Joseph International School
Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF), in collaboration with St Joseph International School, organised a one-minute mobile filmmaking workshop for students from Grades 6 to 12 on 30 October.
The workshop introduced students to the basics of filmmaking using mobile phones, with a focus on storytelling and visual communication.
Conducted by Mohammed Farhad Hossain Fahad, the session covered story development, scriptwriting, visual storytelling and editing. Participants learned how to turn their ideas into short films through different stages of production.
Syeda Sadia Mehjabin and Shafik Mannan were also present as guests.
On the first day, participants were divided into five teams: Dramatic Disorders, Grade 8 Filming Work, Film Making Workshop Group, Tong Bhai Production and Experiment 9.
Each team was assigned a line producer from DIMFF: Atkia Mysha Promita, Umme Efteda, Israt Jahan Yasha, Afifa Marzuka and Sharifa Sultana Shawon. They guided the students throughout the filmmaking process.
The first day focused on story development and scriptwriting, followed by shooting on the second day and editing on the third. Each team completed a one-minute film, which was screened before the participants on the final day.
All participating students received certificates in recognition of their involvement and efforts throughout the workshop.
The initiative reflected DIMFF’s motto, “New Generation, New Tools, New Communication”, highlighting the potential of mobile technology as a tool for creative storytelling.
