Bangladesh secured their second victory in the Asian Games hockey competition after coming from behind to beat Indonesia 3-1 in their Pool A match in Nagoya, Japan, today (Saturday).

Indonesia took an early lead through Fatur Mochamad in the sixth minute, but Bangladesh levelled the score five minutes later through penalty-corner specialist Amirul Islam.

Amirul struck again in the 31st minute to put Bangladesh ahead before Russell Mahmud Jimmy extended the lead with a field goal three minutes later.

The victory followed Bangladesh’s 5-1 win over Sri Lanka in their previous match. They had earlier suffered defeats to South Korea (5-0) and hosts Japan (6-1).

Bangladesh will face India in their final Pool A match on 28 September, with the result set to determine their chances of progressing to the next stage.
